7 is not like other numbers. It's symbolizes a multitude of things for different religions, cultures, and people. There are 7 days of the week, Saturn has 7 rings, and there are myths about every 7 years. Usually 7 is associated with completeness, spirituality, good fortune, and the mysteries of the universe. There's something ambiguous about the number 7, like it's a door that opens into possibilities that are boundless. Even today, people consider 7 to be their lucky number, but the fascination started a long time ago.

In the story here, a farmer finds a kitten in his barn. He knows he can trust the cat distribution system, and that he was meant to have this kitten. 7 weeks later, he finds another round of kittens! They're sickly, starving, and need help, and once again he takes them in. Now 7 weeks apart the farmer has 7 kittens. Talk about 7 being significant. Not to mention it's September, and although it's the 9th month of the year, "sept" means seven in romance languages. If you've ever heard that the human life unfolds in 7 year cycles, you might also have some kinship with the number 7. There's something cosmic and esoteric about 7 that leaves people wondering about their live. If you're an anime lover like me, then you might have seen the show Nana. It's about two women, both named Nana, who run into each other and meet on a train that's broken down, each the same age and moving to Tokyo. They're two parts of the same whole, they have parallel lives and an instant connection. In Japanese, Nana means 7, they live at apartment 707, and there's many other 7 motifs in the show. If you're not already an anime fan, I highly recommend it. For Japanese culture, 7 is significantly associated with positive connotations. Most clearly is the Seven Lucky Gods, which are a group of deities associated with different forms of good fortune, such as prosperity, happiness, longevity, wisdom, and success.
